Fed’s Beige Book paints modest economic picture

Modest to moderate growth was reported by nine out of 12 US Federal Reserve districts between the middle of August and early this month, according to the latest Beige Book. Labor markets were generally firm, although wages continued to lag and the manufacturing sector was a bit weaker.
