Average 401(k) balance grew in Q1

The average 401(k) balance reached $91,800 in the first quarter, a 0.5% increase from Q4 and 3.6% higher on a year-over-year basis, according to Fidelity. Average IRA balances also rose. More consumers are saving for retirement, and some are raising their contribution rates.
