Webinar: 501(c)(12) Tax & Accounting Essentials

November 12 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

501(c)(12) Tax & Accounting Essentials: Key Rules, Deadlines and Best Practices

501(c)(12) organizations face unique tax and financial reporting requirements that can be easy to overlook, particularly as staff changes or new sources of revenue are introduced.

Join Squire Partners Mike Torgerson and Paul Winward for a practical discussion of key tax and accounting considerations for 501(c)(12) organizations, including mutual ditch and irrigation companies. The session will cover filing requirements and deadlines, the 85% Member Income Test, how grants and other non-member income can affect tax-exempt status, and best practices in nonprofit accounting.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Understand the 85% Member Income Test and how member and non-member income can affect tax-exempt status and filing requirements.
  • Identify key tax deadlines, deductions and planning considerations, including considerations when grants or other non-member income increase.
  • Apply nonprofit accounting best practices to support accurate financial records and informed oversight.

This session is designed for new board members, secretaries, and treasurers who want to better understand nonprofit accounting and tax responsibilities.

A recording of the webinar will be made available to all registered attendees following the event.
