Romney Picks Rep. Ryan as his Running Mate

Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee, named U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., as his running mate in the campaign against President Barack Obama. However, Romney put distance between himself and many of the congressman's proposals for cutting government spending for all departments, except the military, and reorganizing Medicare. "I have my budget plan," Romney said. "And that's the budget plan we're going to run on."
